Report on Chilima's memorial service at Ntcheu

CHILIMA'S LIFE IN MEMORIAL A memorial service for the late Saulos Chilima, who was the vice president of Malawi has taken place today through mass prayers organized by his family, led by Bishop Peter Adrian Chifukwa of Dedza Diocese at Nsipe, ntcheu. The family spokesperson, Tiwonge Phiri said the service was organized to commemorate the life and good deeds of Saulos Chilima, rather than just to mourn. She added that Chilima was like a teacher who encouraged people to do good things in the country, his family and among his relatives. Speaking at the service, chief Makwangwala, who stood on behalf of the parmount chief Gomani V, said Chilima was a person who loved his community and actively participated in developing and advising local chiefs of ngoni clan. Furthermore, Makwangwala encouraged others to emulate the spirit of Chilima of cooperating and supporting the traditional leaders in their work. Malawi for deep diplomatic relations with Mozambique The president of Malawi, Lazarus Chakwera has vowed to deepen 50-year old of diplomatic relations with the leader of Mozambique, Daniel Chapo at Kamuzu palace, Lilongwe, where the officials of the two government have signed the three bilateral agreements in the field of information, communication, technology, transport and trade. Chakwera have told Chapo that he will work with him in taking the interconnector forward as the two countries are not just linked by geography but also by culture and power interconnection lines. The president has further appreciated the progress which is continuing under Chapo’s tenure.  GOVERNMENT HOUSES SOLD, JAPPIE MHANGO IN POLICE CUSTODY The Northern Region vice president of the Democratic Progressive Party(DPP) Jappie Mhango has slept in police custody in Mzuzu and is expected to be in court today after being arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau(ACB) following allegations on providing false information and over the abuse of office. Mhango has been accused of misusing his public office during his tenure as Minister of Transport and Public Works in 2016 and 2017, and also authorization on the selling of government houses at a lower price, benefiting his relatives resulting in a loss of public revenue. Lawyer Charles Lupande has said the court was only informed about one house and that Mhango was not cautioned yet. Mhango has pleased with his political members to stop chaos at the station and maintain peace with the police.
