Report on Chilima's memorial service at Ntcheu

CHILIMA'S LIFE IN MEMORIAL

A memorial service for the late Saulos Chilima, who was the vice president of Malawi has taken place today through mass prayers organized by his family, led by Bishop Peter Adrian Chifukwa of Dedza Diocese at Nsipe, ntcheu.

The family spokesperson, Tiwonge Phiri said the service was organized to commemorate the life and good deeds of Saulos Chilima, rather than just to mourn. She added that Chilima was like a teacher who encouraged people to do good things in the country, his family and among his relatives.

Speaking at the service, chief Makwangwala, who stood on behalf of the parmount chief Gomani V, said Chilima was a person who loved his community and actively participated in developing and advising local chiefs of ngoni clan. Furthermore, Makwangwala encouraged others to emulate the spirit of Chilima of cooperating and supporting the traditional leaders in their work.

The former president Joyce Banda, UTM leader Dalitso Kabambe and other ministers attended the service, paying their respects.
