Police ready to secure residents of Zomba
Senior Chief Mlumbe in Zomba has commended the police in the district for officially revamping 997 emergency services.
Mlumbe at the Bluegum Avenue, has said the resurfacing of the services would strengthen security within the district, as the Zomba police station through its community policing office has unveiled the rapid response motor vehicle.
“The unveiling of the rapid response motor vehicle, 997, will put the hearts of the people in Zomba at peace now unlike before. Our district was prone to security issues as the police was not being able to help the people but now with this vehicle we are assured that now we are going to be safe,” said Mlumbe.
Speaking during the launch, senior superintended Selemani Mtambo who is also the station officer for Zomba police station has extended his gratitude to the National Police Headquarters for allocating a 997 motor vehicle and establishing free call center services in the district.
Mtambo has also said that the services will help in tightening community security and safety.
“The residents will be dialing 997 for free whenever they are in danger, and they will be able to
get in touch with us and be assisted in time, at any time,” said Mtambo.
